About 150 universities plan to take part in the student tourism program in 2022 – Chernyshenko

About 150 universities plan to take part in the student tourism program next year, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“This summer, thanks to the pilot, about 600 students were able to relax in other regions of Russia at affordable prices. 21 universities participated in the program, 170 excursions, events, and various cultural and educational tourism programs were developed for the students,” Chernyshenko said on Wednesday.

“Now work is underway to create a program for next year. It is planned to introduce educational components into tourist routes. In total, about 150 universities are planning to take part in the student tourism program in 2022,” he said.

The pilot phase of the student tourism program was implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education from July 15 to August 25, 2021. The message says that the program provided for two travel options: a group format, when the sending university paid for the trip, and an independent one – at the student’s own funds.

The government added that following the results of the pilot project, it was decided to extend and scale the program for 2022.

In addition, Chernyshenko added that the Cabinet of Ministers, on behalf of the President, is also creating a network of world-class campuses, allocating funding for major repairs and reconstruction of hostels and campuses.

“Thanks to this, we not only increase the comfort of learning and encourage children to engage in science but also create even more accommodation options for student tourists. I hope that on this forum, the guys will form a list of their specific proposals and wishes for improving the travel program, offer additional and more interesting tourist routes. We will definitely take this into account when developing the final version of the program, “added the Deputy Prime Minister.

On Wednesday in Moscow at the site of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, the All-Russian Forum “Student Tourism-2022” started, it will last until November 20. Its main theme is the development of proposals for the student tourism program for the next year.

More than 100 students from 30 Russian universities took part in the forum. For them, it is planned to conduct lectures and masterclasses, as well as outdoor events.
