The relevant draft law was prepared by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and approved on the 28th of April at a meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation.

According to the document, the Government of Russia this year will establish additional budget places in universities for admission to study in master’s programs.

As the head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov said, presenting the bill at a meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation, this measure will strengthen the protection of the Russian economy in the face of sanctions pressure.

“Training specialists with research competencies in key industries is necessary to fill the labor market with highly qualified personnel,” explained Valery Falkov.

The establishment of additional budgetary places in the magistracy will allow more students to receive state scholarships, places in hostels, and other types of support that are provided by the legislation on education.

If the law is adopted, budget places will be distributed to universities before the start of the admission campaign this year. The 4.3 billion rubles necessary for the implementation of the initiative will be redistributed from the funds of the state program “Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation”.

The bill will be considered by the State Duma and the Federation Council in Mid- May.
