On January 27 Tomsk Polytechnic University(TPU) students from Egypt, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Russia defended their graduation theses.

This year at TPU, 48 students; 13 Egyptians, 10 Vietnamese, 2 Kazakhs, and 23 Russians graduated from the Nuclear Plants: Design, Operation, and Engineering program. The course lasted 5.5 years and was in English and Russian.TPU Graduation Thesis From Egyptians, Vietnamese, Kazakhs, And Russians Graduates TPU Graduation Thesis From Egyptians, Vietnamese, Kazakhs, And Russians Graduates TPU Graduation Thesis From Egyptians, Vietnamese, Kazakhs, And Russians Graduates

In addition, Egyptian students participated in a joint program with the Egyptian Russian University (ERU) in which they studied general science theory in Egypt for the first three years and specialized courses at Butakov School of Energy & Power Engineering for the remaining three years. And their instruction was exclusively in English. Other students took the program in Russian, along with a Russian language course designed for non-Russian speakers.

“As many Russian universities offer around ten nuclear power programs, but this one is unique in that it takes a 360-degree approach. The Rosatom State Nuclear Corporation’s technical academy alone sent an application for 28 graduates. This demonstrates a high level of trust in Tomsk Polytechnic University TPU’s teaching professionalism,” said Sergey Lavrinenko, the main training program’s coordinator TPU.

Additionally, students learn about the fundamentals of nuclear power plant construction, operation, and engineering. As well as basic mechanics, kinetics, and neutron-physical processes. International students receive their practical instruction at the Volgodonsk resource centre as part of an agreement between Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute’s National Research Nuclear University. The students’ graduation projects included modern nuclear power architecture, reliability and reactor/heat exchange/steam generator/condenser/turbine plant upgrades. As well as nuclear waste management processes.

In addition, Egyptian and Vietnamese students are recruited using quotas and the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s support.

The TPU primary students of this program graduated last year.

Russian Education Forum congratulates all these TPU graduates and wishes them further success!
