A Student From Ghana Told How He Became Russian

A graduate student of the Master’s degree of geographical faculty of Saratov State University, a citizen of Ghana Clement Tabiri Konadu told how he got into Russia and for what he loved it:
Clement Tabiri Konadu said, “Upon admission to Saratov State University, I was full of fear for bad reviews about Russia’s study and fake news about racism and the nation’s low culture circulating in the media. After arriving at the Domodedovo Moscow airport on September 21, 2017, I decided to find out the truth behind these comments.

On my way to Saratov, I repeatedly encountered Russians who helped me without even knowing English. These unprecedented events suddenly proved to me that Russians are actually kind and welcoming people. My story began after being in Ghana for 5 years. After getting my first degree in geography and rural development, I should have continued my studies at the International University.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have access to the scholarship so I had to raise funds and prepare to pay myself. Of all countries, I preferred Russia primarily because of my trust in the education system in it. I found such factors as the place of this state in the world economy. Again, it is important to mention that I chose Saratov University also because, as I initially said, I did not have a scholarship. And when compared to the cost of education in different universities of the world. Russian Universities had the lowest price combined with the best approach for learning.

I started my education with Russian language classes. I met wonderful teachers and university staff. That’s when my love for the Russian language was born, I became very interested in living in Russia.

I will like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the leadership of the International Service of the university. Here I was adopted as a son and always supported when I was facing difficulties. I also want to point out that when I went to university to obtain a master’s degree in environmental management, I met sensitive teachers and responsive dean of geographical faculty. They all always made concessions to me, considering my position as a foreigner. I had amazing groupmates ready to help me anytime.

In my recent years of stay in Russia, I never felt stressed. I received great satisfaction while living in this country and in this city. Not only in my university, but in general, hospitality reigns in Saratov. In addition, I strongly declare that I will stay here even after graduation. I would even write a book called ” How I Became Russian “.

I love Russia and Saratov, and I would like to share with you a little secret. After that, I decided to name my son named after Dmitry Nikolaevich Konakov, head of the International Service of the SSU. “
