In the Syrian city of Latakia, on the basis of the Al-Munir school, a solemn ceremony of laying the first stone of the Center for Russian Language and Culture was held. The educational center will be named after the outstanding scientist and engineer Vladimir Shukhov.
The center is being built on the basis of an agreement between the Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU) named after V.G. Shukhov and the Al-Munir school. The Syrian side took upon itself the construction of the center, BSTU will provide it with teaching staff and literature for studying the Russian language. Graduates of the Center will be able to continue their studies at Russian universities.
Vice-rector for international activities, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhova Ruslan Lesovik said that at the Center in Latakia, talented Syrian children will be taught the Russian language as part of a technical, humanitarian, and medical educational profile.
“BSTU named after V.G. Shukhova is actively involved in the dissemination and popularization of the Russian language and culture. Our centers operate in Morocco and China. Love for the country begins with love for the language, so we are working to make it interesting for foreigners to learn Russian and to come to study in Russia, ”Ruslan Lesovik emphasized.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the leadership of the Al-Munir school, Syrian universities.
In addition, BSTU signed a cooperation agreement with Tishreen University in Latakia. The parties agreed to open a research and educational center for the Theory and Practice of Destroyed Cities on the basis of Tishreen University, which will develop technologies for the production of building materials in order to accelerate the restoration of housing for Syrian citizens.
