This year, major repairs are being carried out at the facilities of educational organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia at the expense of the federal budget. Work is carried out not only in educational buildings but also in student dormitories. At some sites, work has already been completed or is nearing completion.
Nonresident students of the St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University (SPbGMTU) have already been able to assess the new living conditions. Just two weeks ago, a selective overhaul of common areas was completed in hostel No. 1 on Stachek Avenue. With the help of subsidies provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, a complex of works was carried out to repair showers, kitchens, stairs, an entrance lobby, and a hall. Despite the short period of work, the experts highly appreciated the quality of the repair and immediately accepted the work in full without any comments. And the students themselves are satisfied with the transformation of their “second home”.
“After the overhaul, the hostel acquired a completely different look. It has become more comfortable to use showers and toilets; cooking in the new kitchen is now also pleasant and convenient. Previously, there were only two electric stoves, and paint fell off the walls. And now there is beauty, cleanliness, and order here. We will try to support them, ”said Vladimir Kirilenko, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Ship Power Engineering and Automation of the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University.
The residents of the hostel № 7 of the Samara University named after S.P. Queen. In a nine-story building on Moskovskoe highway, at the expense of federal funding and the university’s own funds, a major overhaul of sanitary blocks – toilet and washrooms, showers- was carried out. The staircases were repaired, engineering communications in the sanitary blocks and doors in the rooms were replaced. On its own, the university additionally repaired the corridors and replaced lighting devices in public areas.
“It is much more pleasant to be in the hostel now: the walls of the corridors have been painted, new doors have been installed, neat tiles have appeared everywhere, new plumbing fixtures have appeared,” said student Aleksey Ugarin.
It has become not only more comfortable but also safer for students of Samara University to live in the renovated dormitory. As part of the overhaul, the building was replaced by two new outdated elevators.
“Remember the Soviet brown elevators with linoleum on the floor? They barely crawl up, rattle and it seems that the one looking to get stuck between floors. And now we have new elevators, silent, fast, modern! ” – shared student Anna Osipovicheva.
Large-scale work on the overhaul of student dormitories has been completed in many universities in the country. Selectively renovated the 8th and 9th floors of residential premises and common areas with the replacement of utilities, doors, and windows in the dormitory of the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation on Peredovikov Street. Overhaul of residential blocks, staircases, and corridors, as well as part of the roof, was carried out in the hostel No. 5 of the Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies on Kholzunova Street. In the hostel No. 1 of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering on Gogol Street, in addition to common areas, basements, balconies, and a fire conduit were overhauled,
In total, under the overhaul program in 2021, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia allocated 7.96 billion rubles for an overhaul of more than 363 objects of 209 subordinate institutions. At the expense of these funds, more than 230 thousand square meters of the area of universities and 38 thousand square meters of areas of scientific organizations will be repaired.
